America / New York time

59% of people visiting the spy museum in DC are OK with being torturers. Even asking the question is hideous.

Other than that, the new spy museum is pretty great. Really good collection of original spycraft objects and lots of stories.

Finally at the African American museum in DC. It is excellent, but it is two museums, and I wanted something different from one of them. More after thoughts collected.

DC Metro: just like BART but with less poop and fewer needles.

Trying to learn a couple of the most basic ASL signs from YouTube before visiting Gallaudet tomorrow.

Visited the American Indian museum yesterday. Lots of positive cultural stuff, lots of depressing history. Including the casual language of genocide from American presidents. "the end proposed should be their extermination". "must necessarily yield.. and ere long disappear".

They were talking about Native Americans. About the explicit goal of killing every last one. We talk about Jefferson and Jackson as great men with some problematic stuff / contradictions. But this is Hitler-level evil, and it was explicit, and it was clear.

NBD just some selfies with the Obamas.

I'm in Charlotte NC. Queen City, hoping I fit right in.

90 minutes from touchdown to first plate of pulled pork with vinegar sauce. I'm a good Texas boy and like my brisket but there's something to be said for barbecued pig.

Charlotte has a good high end dining scene! I ended up at 5Church where I had the signature steak. New York strip 12-14 minutes on a flattop, never flipped. The bottom side is heavily seasoned then cooked until it's nearly burnt, crusty. The top winds up rare but warm. Good!

Driving through the backwoods of North Carolina listening to Garth radio. Judging by the number of traitor flags I see flying I'm behind enemy lines

Some art I liked @TheMintMuseum in Charlotte, NC. 19th century pitcher (Toussaint), Kay Sage, Doris Leeper, Kehinde Wiley.
