Starting to pack for #FOSS4G and #XOXO. Long-term Portland forecast is warm and sunny.

so grateful I'm staying at the Hotel Monaco for #xoxofest. They have terrific air conditioning. Portland doesn't do heat waves well.

Obligatory PDX airport carpet tweet.

It was a fancy hotel, the kind of place with only Lightning connectors in the iPhone docks, no 30 pin. Real classy joint.

Three Kings.

Just realized I forgot to pack my waistcoat for Portland.

The Goldsmith Co.

Portland visitors for #foss4g or #xoxofest: local transit TriMet has a new pay-by-phone app. $5 / day for a pass. trimet.org/mobiletickets

Leaflet.js creator @mourner enjoying a quiet moment with dramatic lighting at #foss4g2014.

Every time I'm in Portland I think great city, why don't I live here anymore? Then I remember I only visit in the non-rainy month.

@nelson I mean, cell phones even work in Portland. Backwater, paradise, or both?

@nelson I mean this restaurant is literally nothing but craft cocktails and wood fired pizza. And there's no wait. Backwater or paradise?

@nelson I mean there's no sales tax, so a $4 beer costs $4. That part is paradise.

A little bit of the old gay ghetto on Stark survives. Club Portland Baths across the street is now a nice hotel.

Full house for @nfwarmerdam talk about mosaicing space images to take a new 5m picture of the whole Earth every day.

Trick for walking across Morrison Bridge from #xoxofest to downtown: go to Yamhill & Water, take ramp.

Portland, your lack of @Uber, @Lyft, or even a decent taxi fleet is holding you back. Choose paradise, not backwater.

Slide from @CWMma : *wax poetic about Mike Bostock* (referring to projections for presentation) #foss4g2014

Bullier Building 420.

There is something very Portland about hearing two freight trains calling to each other in the middle of the city.

Amazing haptic social game Edgar Rice Soirée, super fun. #xoxofest

Thinking of @adam_messinger while listening to Mike Doughty play to 50 people. #xoxofest

I've been complaining, but @Curbed got me a cab to the Portland hotel pretty well tonight. Thanks!

Meaningful to me to hear @Mike_Doughty_ play #xoxofest; last time I heard him was ~19 years ago in Albuquerque. Great musician. #xoxofest

Thrilled that @femfreq is speaking at #xoxofest today. Her videos are great video games criticism. youtube.com/watch?v=4ZPSrwedvsg

#xoxofest is a place where you can finally meet your Internet friends in person.

Lovely humanism from @stewart and @SlackHQ: hundreds of paper fans as gifts for the last hot day of #xoxofest

Best thing about #xoxofest is the earnest optimism. Every time I live cynicism free I am happier.

Chicken Matt. @mattcutts #xoxofest

Can't wait for @ftrain's talk for #xoxofest; he brought an air conditioner ray gun and will be beaming cool air at each one of us.

Slurpee, the ice cold official beverage of #xoxofest

The art of leaving a great party at the right moment. Voice a little hoarse, hugs a little drunken but still sincere. #xoxofest

It's remarkable how nice the Reed Canyon has become.

More Reed Canyon.

Current status: $15 for burger, beer, shot.

Second visit to Tasty n Alder. Recklessly syncretic menu, bold world flavors well executed.

Lovely chat with a Portland cabbie; would like to drive more but Radio Cab doesn't have enough cars. Portland needs @uber

Portland airport: live classical music, groovy carpet, taco truck in the hallways, and free wifi.

Wondering how many of the pensive bearded dudes on my flight to SF are from #xoxofest
