To Be Taught, If Fortunate

Lovely humanist story. Some good scifi about exploring new planets. But the real hook is the emotional experiences of the characters, their lives as a small family far from Earth. Some nice evocation of loneliness and distance, also of hope and purpose.

I don't normally read novellas but glad I made an exception. I would have been glad to read a novel-sized treatment but honestly she had plenty of room to say what she wanted to.
