Thunderhead
★★★★★Read Aug 22, 2022
I ended up really liking this. It starts off kind of slow and felt like an obligatory sequel. But then two things happen to make it interesting. First, the author completely upends the world he'd spent so much time building. And second, he centers the Thunderhead as a POV character with the very well written short interstitial material. It's a great story of the horror and unknowability of an all powerful sentient AI and it's really quite an interesting thing to have interleaved in the rest.
It's still a YA book at heart so it's not terribly subtle or complex. But plenty of fun plot twists and interesting main characters keep it humming along. Good stuff. Very excited to see where the plot goes next.
