Shift

★★★★★Read Aug 19, 2013

I was super-excited by the first book, Wool, it seemed really fresh and entertaining and clever. Shift kind of lagged for me. The biggest problem is I just didn't care for the characters, particularly Donald. The Wool stories were all about complex societies, people interactions. Shift is explicitly about the opposite of that, being alone. But I don't think Howey succeeded in making that interesting. Despite that I enjoyed reading it, tore through it quickly, and am now very excited for Dust.
