Ocean's Echo

I enjoyed this but wish the prose were tighter. I feel like cutting 25% of the words while maintaining the same story would have made for a better book. It's good, and entertaining, but dilute.

The interesting thing about the book is that it's a fusion of a sci-fi novel and a romance novel. The sci-fi stuff is fairly strong. The romance novel is not. Partly the romance tropes just trap the writing into two main characters (the love interests) that aren't compelling enough. Or in the case of the main character, kind of obnoxious. Also it's not quite sexy enough. I liked the scifi stuff though, the construction of the remnants and psychic powers and the scary oversight of the Resolution.

Again, enjoyed the book. Just wish it was more!
