Interference

I wish I liked this better! The story was pretty interesting. A little slow, a little oblique, but it developed in an interesting way and the epilogue is particularly intriguing. Enough so I'll probably read the next book even though this one was a slog.

The problem is the writing style. The author has done something interesting here, trying to write each section in the voice of the narrator. Unfortunately all her chosen narrators have weird styles. It was nearly painful reading some of the sections because the prose was so clunky and the narrator so dumb. I think this is all deliberate, even impressive, but it made the book less enjoyable for me.

Goodreads readers give it 3.97★, from 4,493 ratings. I gave it 2★, −2.0, where I'm usually −0.9: I liked it less than most.
Readers call it Science Fiction, Aliens, Speculative Fiction, Fantasy, Dystopia, Plants.
