I enjoyed this pretty well but it had some rough edges.

What I liked best was the fusion of bodice-ripping FF romance with a postapocalyptic pirate story. It's quite a creative pastiche, two exciting genres in one, and made all the more fun because it's got some modern queer edge to it. And the romance parts were hot.

I also liked the story and the world building. It was fun and interesting. Her writing about people is particularly good, excellent characterization.

The rough edges was the action scenes. There's a bunch of them and somehow the descriptions of what was going on didn't really work for me. I never could figure out how the ships were even travelling, or where they were, and the ending has a lot of improbable stuff happening. That's fine, never let realism get in the way of a good story, but it would have been more fun for me if the action seemed more coherent.

Overall a good book, and creative and fresh. Glad to have read it.
