Breaking Bounds: Whitman and American Cultural Studies

I haven't actually read this, just skimmed it and read a couple of essays in particular. But want to make a note because it's quite an interesting collection of critical essays about Whitman and his role in American culture. And it's not the only topic, but the book is not shy about claiming Whitman as a queer American forefather (and mother). Ed Folsom's chapter on the photographs of Whitman with various young men and what they tell us about him is particularly interesting.

Goodreads readers give it 4.33★, from 6 ratings. I gave it 4★, −0.3, where I'm usually −0.9: I rated it like most.
