Fun read. Young man's coming to adulthood and learning his power and getting mixed up in complicated feudal politics. The adventure writing here is pretty fun, I found the story compelling and at times a page-turner. Also the protagonist's emotional state is very well conveyed, a young man often bewildered or lonely or overwhelmed in a way that comes across as very sympathetic.
As for criticism.. it's a little too much "chosen one", the protagonist's character sheet is just jam-packed full of perks and abilities. And it's a pretty small world the story takes place in, one doesn't get a sense the author spent a lot of time world-building. But then they can focus better on the core plot and protagonist's dilemmas and that works for me.
