A Canticle for Leibowitz (St. Leibowitz, #1)
Liked this a lot, surprised I didn't read it before. Fascinating and somewhat plausible concept; the Catholic Church is the only civilization that survives nuclear war, shepherds the Ancient Knowledge for 600+ years before anyone can understand it again. The storytelling device is interesting too, three interconnected stories a few hundreds of years apart, Cloud Atlas owes a lot to this novel. Unfortunately the second and third stories are a bit weak and some of the themes are a bit messy; I enjoyed the first third of the book the most. But it's a great novel and feels very fresh. Also a good example of scifi that's of broader appeal.Read 2013-02-12 to 2013-03-04
