Maui and Oʻahu

Tweets and photos from a tourist trip March 2016

  1. Full of breakfast, rental car iPhone situation sorted, Abba on the radio. On the road to Hana.
  2. Lovely drive out to Hana, if long. Ran into an old friend from Google in Paia on the way back. As one does.
  3. We found some good meals in Maui. Wailea: Monkeypod, Spago (!). Paia: Mama's Fish House. Ka'anapali: Hula Grill.
  4. Hawaiian diner breakfast. Both Tabasco and soy sauce on the table.
  5. Thanks to @iandees for telling me about this 1953 Navy training video for mechanical fire control computers.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1i-dnAH9Y4
  6. Waikiki sunset with sailboats. The music below is sweetly plaintive and the hula dance is elegantly subtle. https://t.co/pTqz0McZY6

  7. @rchen I do not exaggerate: this hotel has 7 different dress codes for different venues and times of day. OTOH, legit French restaurant.
  8. It was convenient taking @Uber_Hawaii but they are not charging enough. $15 for a 20 minute ride is not a living wage for drivers.
  9. Thanks for the suggestions! Waikiki is so different from Maui. Also Ken decided what he really wants is old school steak, so Hy's it is.
  10. @dang headed to Pig & Lady for lunch today, thanks again!
  11. @dang great food, very nicely composed flavors. Way out of the tourist scrum too, which is nice. A bit too loud for us (1:45pm Friday!).
  12. @dang excellent dinner at Mud Hen Water, too.
